I am devoted to my development as a craftsman. After completing high school I worked at Louisville Stoneware where I learned to operate the jigger wheel. While working in the factory I was exposed to the steps necessary for high-volume stoneware production. In 2003 I entered Berea College. In the school's work program I learned the fine craft of wheel-thrown pottery. As an art major I studied ceramic sculpture in the studio. After earning my degree I visited some prominent clay art regions like Washington, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia where I observed ceramic techniques. I was inspired to return to Louisville, Kentucky and become involved in it's art scene.
My most recent project has been the development and production of the Mug Shot Mug series. My intention is to offer people a hand-made alternative to tacky gift mugs that are manufactured using a high-production process. With decals I am able to apply actual mug-shot photos of celebrities on hand-thrown ceramic wares. These kitschy mugs function well in sets and are great fun to give as gifts. In conjunction with this project I am developing a small table-ware inventory and I look forward to offering items for sale on this website.
